The 17th Annual Tree of Lights Campaign Is Live!

600,000 bulbs to light up by December 12 for Sainte-Justine

The CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation and its partners, Rythme and METRO, are proud to be kicking off the 17th annual Sainte-Justine Tree of Lights campaign. Starting today and until December 12, people across Quebec are invited to spark hope for the children, families and teams of Sainte-Justine with a gift of $5 per light. The Tree of Lights will shine brighter and brighter every day as donations roll in. The goal this year is to make 600,000 lights twinkle on the Tree in support of Sainte-Justine’s ambition to build a better and healthier future for children and mothers-to-be. This year also marks the 11th year that METRO is giving Metro and Metro Plus customers in Quebec the chance to make a checkout donation to the campaign or give online when buying their groceries at metro.ca

“Caring for children today lays the groundwork for a better future — what could be more important? Every beacon of hope in the Tree of Lights is a testament to the quality of the care provided at Sainte-Justine. The community’s generosity is vital in acquiring state-of-the-art equipment, funding innovative research and attracting top talent,” says Delphine Brodeur, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation.

Your lights at the end of the tunnel

Édith Lemay opens up about her experience as the mother of Mia, a Sainte-Justine patient diagnosed with a progressive condition known as retinitis pigmentosa.

“There are any number of reasons your family might need Sainte-Justine: a baby born prematurely, an accident, a chronic health condition, even cancer. But the parents who come through those doors all share the same fear: the fear of seeing their child suffer. Believe me, I would give anything to keep my children safe and healthy. Which is why it was so hard to sit down with our then-seven-year-old daughter and tell her she would gradually lose her eyesight” asks Édith Lemay, mother to Mia

Celebrity support

Several wonderful allies will be lending their support to the 17th annual Sainte-Justine Tree of Lights campaign. CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation ambassador Guy A. Lepage will be joined by Anouk Meunier, Fred Pellerin and his daughter, Marie-Fée, to rally people throughout Quebec behind the children, families and teams at Sainte-Justine.

Sainte-Justine Youth Tree of Lights

From November 1 to 30, students in the schools belonging to the Fédération des établissements d’enseignement privés (FEEP) did their part to contribute to the cause as part of the fifth edition of the Sainte-Justine Youth Tree of Lights campaign. As a result of their efforts this year, more than 150,000 bulbs are already shining on the Tree. Inspired by the touching stories of ambassadors Charlotte, Édouard, Mia, Romeo and Rosemary, these next-generation philanthropists have once again shown how powerful and community-minded they are. It is now up to the rest of the province to build on this momentum and light up the Tree to the very top.

Putting some holiday sparkle in children’s eyes across Quebec

Sainte-Justine is the rock that thousands of families from across the province cling to when their child is sick. From the Outaouais to Nunavik, from Abitibi-Témiscamingue to the Côte-Nord, and everywhere in between, the Tree of Lights helps to bring magic, hope and comfort to the entire Sainte-Justine community.

A sense of wide-eyed wonder is palpable in the ad for the 17th annual Sainte-Justine Tree of Lights campaign, which reminds us that many young patients will be spending the holidays in the hospital this year. The Tree of Lights will be the only tree they will be able to marvel at. Every twinkling light is a ray of hope — the hope that the carefree joys of childhood can be theirs once again. Watch it now.

The campaign will kick off November 25 and run on radio and TV, signs and billboards, print and social media, and all of the Foundation’s platforms, thanks to the collaborative efforts of several generous partners.

Highlights:

  • Between now and December 12, the Tree of Lights will grow brighter every day as more donations are received. It will then remain fully lit in a show of support for the patients, families and staff who will be spending the holiday season at Sainte-Justine. Families will be able to watch each tree lighting from the hospital or via livestream. Every night, this magical moment is one that is sure to captivate and enthrall.
  • From Monday to Thursday, between December 1 and 12, Rythme listeners will be able to tune into Y’est 4 h quelque part at 5:20 p.m. for live coverage of the tree lighting.
  • If 325,000 bulbs are shining on the Tree of Lights by midnight on Giving Tuesday (December 3), CN and the Famille du lait will together kick in an additional $50,000.
  • For the 11th year running, METRO is partnering with the Sainte-Justine Tree of Lights campaign by offering shoppers the option to make a donation at the cash register in Metro and Metro Plus grocery stores in Quebec or via the online grocery store at metro.ca. The funds raised will help support Sainte-Justine’s mission of excellence and its Social Services Department through the METRO Sainte-Justine Family Assistance Fund.
  • Donors are invited to put an extra sparkle of magic in children’s eyes by joining the Twinkle Club: for every donation of 10 or more lights made online at treeoflights.org, Sushi Shop will add five extra lights, up to a campaign total of $50,000.
  • Donations collected during the campaign will enable the teams at Sainte-Justine to continue to play a leadership role in patient care, teaching and research, and to transform lives across Quebec. The trust our donors place in the Foundation is the fuel that lets the teams at Sainte-Justine take swift action, seize promising opportunities and advance key priorities in improving the health of children and mothers-to-be.
